Great story! I’m looking forward to hearing more about your journey in the future 🙂
Thanks Emma. I’m sure Kirby will make sure you hear more. 🙂
Just want to say big congratulations on the new venture! eCommerce is a really exciting space and I can’t think of a better team to tackle it.
Looking forward seeing all the cool things to come .
Thanks mate. 🙂
Congratulations on a new, neat website and all the best as you make the world a greater place…
Thanks very much Blessing!
Congratulations on living the dream, I am sure great thinks await you!

Hiya,
Don’t forget about https://www.fightforthefuture.org/, they are doing a good job.
This is from their site:
“Fight for the Future is dedicated to protecting and expanding the Internet’s transformative power in our lives by creating civic campaigns that are engaging for millions of people. Alongside internet users everywhere we beat back attempts to limit our basic rights and freedoms, and empower people to demand technology (and policy) that serves their interests. Activating the internet for the public good can only lead to a more vibrant and awesome world.”
Thanks for the link Gabriel, I just signed up for their updates!
Great interview and a fantastic ethic that comes from a really good place. I love the quote “The idea of using a for-profit model to help drive social change kept popping into my head”. This, and the power of eCommerce (WooCommerce) is just a beautiful, empowering combination. Last but not least, very well written post!
What an awesome guy. I’m a big fan of the idea and love the toothbrush.
I’d also love to see the full transcript if you share it.
Great post! How can I purchase the toothbrushes?
Thanks Sue!
You can go to the Smiles for the People website and purchase them there: http://www.smilesforthepeople.com/the-goods/
You can choose between a one-off purchase, or go for the subscription model (http://www.smilesforthepeople.com/product/12-month-toothbrush-subscription/).
Happy brushing!
Hey Kirby, great post and thanks for sharing this list! I’ve never seen the Social Rewards plugin – will definitely give that one a look :).

Love the idea of this, but there’s something I don’t quite understand. If I trust a gateway that accepts STR and XRP in my Stellar account, and set my prices at STR using this plugin, that means when a customer checks out they will see a price in STR, but if they want to pay with XRP, where is the conversion done?
The conversion is done via the Stellar client at Stellar.org using Stellar’s distributed exchange (have a read of the Multi-currency transactions section too).
There’s also a Gist with a code sample and some interesting annotations on trading on the Stellar distributed exchange.
Hope that helps. 🙂

Great interview Kirby and Vladimir!
I’m curious how you’ve found selling fashion to guys online, versus your Mrs Collection. Is it a much more straightforward proposition and you see that through better conversions, less time to purchase, etc., or do you feel that guys are much more fashion conscious and easier to sell too these days?
Thanks for the question Mike,
I would have to say it has been a similar experience with both men and women. As our model let’s customers rent the items vs them needing to purchase them. One might think that guys are easy and all they require is a top and some bottoms, but it gets more complex as our stylists pay attention to each persons individual needs, whether it be casual or business, or they might dislike a certain color or pattern. We have found that women seem to have more of a clear vision of the pieces that suit their taste and styles whereas guys are into experimentation a bit more and more flexible of what they are willing to try. We give both men and women the ability to rent new and like new items for as long as they would like and buy them at a discount if they fall in love with that item. This lets them find their style or refine it. Guys also are getting more aware that looking good can be easier without the need to go into a mall by a service like The Mr. Collection 😉
All the best-
Vladimir P.
Thanks Mike 🙂

Woot, so excited to launch this!
I really like that you focus on people. Your goal isn’t about revenue, churn rates, newsletter size, etc.
I don’t often agree with Neil Patel; but one of the things he says is that if you want to make more money find a way to help more people. Seems like you’re doing that. 🙂
Thanks Patrick! Neil, and you are right, the essence of any business has to be about serving people. Regardless of whether they are called customers, clients, readers, users or something else, without creating value for people, there will be no growth in any metric you set… at least for 30 years or so until the robots become self aware. Then we can create businesses to serve people and robots.
That said, we do set smaller goals around metrics like newsletter list size, but they are for measuring the tactics leading towards our “one big goal”. I try hard to keep revenue and other business metrics focused on what they are really for – managing operations – rather than confusing them as being the primary purpose of the business.
AutomateWoo + WooCommerce = Better than Shopify?
Agreed! Music to my ears. Shopify, a closed, non-self-hosted and proprietary platform, must be stopped at all costs from eComm market domination, which it is clearly aiming to do. This acquisition has broader implications which impact the survival of the open web. Thank you for throwing down the gauntlet!!!
Wooow nice,
wishing both themes goodluck and success of this great product
Dan is a wonderful guy with amazing AutomateWoo. Please continue to develop the software and your business, Dan!
This is a big update. Thanks Prospress team.
We love WC subscription.
Bulk Update Subscription Price when Subscription Product Price Changes
Are You working on a free mini-extension that could help?
Hi Natalio, we’re not actively working on it yet, but the plan is to add bulk edit support to the Subscriptions CSV Importer/Exporter. That would make it possible to export a CSV, change the prices as required in CSV editor, like Excel, then upload the CSV to bulk update the subscriptions.
To show your support for this feature, please leave a comment on the Issue requesting it.
What is the ETA on shipping schedules?
Hi Manoj, we’re not able to provide an ETA on that feature at the moment. We decided fairly early on that we would release this feature as a separate extension as the codebase and the complexities in the feature were growing.
Once we’re able to provide more details and an ETA, we’ll update our feature roadmap.
Really excited to have you contributing, five for the future!
Thanks Matt!
Love this!
Congratulations Brent, an exiting time all round. Automattic are lucky to have you and your crew.
Thanks Dee! 🙂
Congratulations Brent and team. You guys have contributed immensely to the ecosystem and joining Automattic is certainly a step in the right direction for everyone.
Full speed ahead!
Thanks Nirav!
Awesome news guys Congrats!
Congratulations!
I would like to see a tweet or some details about the future integration of Robot Ninja and AutomateWoo! I am by no means a power user of either, but Woo has a pretty sparse email and abandonment solution, and store preflight is something I have been behind from beta. I would think that both of these would be a welcome addition to Woo in the form of an add-on or core…any thoughts on this?
Hi Jake! Their future has been discussed, and we have lots of thoughts and ideas for both, but no plans yet. There’s a lot of new opportunities for both new products now, so please be sure to let us know your thoughts either via support or the respective Ideas boards for each product. We’ll be listening to those as always.

I got a bit choked up reading this, even though I already knew the gist of the news. Making it personal and sharing your story really hit home, and thank you for that.
As I’ve said to you in private, you’ve always had a place in our hearts at Woo 🙂
